Happy New Year from Maeap! Thai New Years was officially
celebrated April 13-15 and I am happy it is over. Many people
will take 1 or 2 weeks off from work to be with their familes
and it being so hot and dry, most enjoy celebrating by standing
out in the streets throwing water at people. (see my blog for
pictures taken this year.)
It really feels like a new year to me as we are preparing to start
another school year here.
I am very excited about this new school year. We have a young
Thai woman joining us from Chiangmai. She is a Bible school
graduate who is eager to serve the Lord. She speaks fluent english
and will be a great asset to our home.
We are making some changes this year. I believe God has shown
me how I can be more effective in demonstrating His love . This
year, we will be sponsoring as many children as we can. All through
out Thailand, there are children who will not be going to school because
their parents don't have extra money for school fees ,supplies and
uniforms. In our village, a child can go to school for under $100. So
rather than removing children from a loving home just so they can
go to school, we will be sponsoring them. We also plan to visit them
throughout the year to pray for them and making sure they have rice
and food. I also plan to include them in activities we will have at our
home or church.
I believe this demonstration of God's love will bring entire families to
the Lord.
Some of the children who have been in our home won't be returning
this year. These are children who have loving christian mothers and are
in safe homes. They simply need financial assistance.
We will have about 12 children actually living in the home this year.
I am believing God to be sponsoring another 15 outside of the home.
Our emphasis this year will be on Bible and language study. All of
the children living in the home will be studying Chinese reading and
writing. I also plan to pay tuition for any child I am sponsoring to
attend the Chinese school in our village.
God's plan for their lives is so much bigger than what I see now. I
want to do my part in helping them them fulfill it.
I want to Thank all of you who support me and the home with your
prayers and finances.
I Highly Value your Faithfulness and Trust towards me!
